20 Sofa Set Design ideas
01Classic 3+1+1 In Camel Fabric
The 3+1+1 set in camel fabric is the default for Indian halls because it seats five and leaves the centre open. Place the two singles facing each other across a coffee table.
02Navy 3+2 With Piping
A 3+2 set in navy with contrast white piping looks sharp and seats five on two pieces. It suits an L-shaped seating corner where singles would block a door.
03Teak Frame Set With Cane Arms
A teak frame set with cane arm panels and loose cushions breathes in hot weather. Cushion covers come off for washing. Good for bungalows and verandah-facing halls.
04Grey Low Profile Modular Set
A low-backed grey modular set keeps sightlines open in a small flat. Modules can be rearranged as a 3+2 or a corner. Choose removable covers for cleaning.
05Chesterfield Leather Trio
A tan leather Chesterfield set brings old-world luxury. Deep buttons and rolled arms need space. Keep it out of direct afternoon sun to prevent cracking.
06Mustard Velvet With Gold Legs
A mustard velvet set with slim gold legs adds energy to a neutral hall. Velvet is soft but marks easily, so it suits adult homes.
07Sheesham Carved 5 Seater
A carved sheesham set with maroon upholstery is a traditional choice for joint families. Polish every year or two to keep the carving rich, and dust the grooves with a soft paintbrush. It needs a medium to large hall.
08Off White Boucle Curved Set
A curved off-white boucle sofa with two round chairs feels soft and modern. Boucle hides small marks better than smooth white fabric, but keep it away from pets.
09Green 3+1+1 With Wooden Base
A forest green set on a visible wooden base looks grounded and hides daily wear better than pale fabric. Pair with cane or brass accents. The plinth base also stops dust collecting under the sofa.
10Recliner 3+1+1 Set
A recliner set in dark brown leatherette suits TV-heavy family halls. Each recliner needs extra clear space behind and in front, so plan the room before buying.
11Pastel Blue Scandinavian Set
A pale blue Scandinavian set on tapered wooden legs looks light and suits small halls. Low seat height suits younger users more than elders, so add firm cushions if parents visit often.
12Charcoal 3+2 With Chaise
A charcoal three seater with a chaise plus a two seater handles lounging and guests together. Choose a reversible chaise so it can switch sides if you move house or rearrange the hall.
13Rattan And Linen Set
A rattan frame set with linen cushions gives a holiday feel. Ideal for a sunlit hall or covered balcony. Bring balcony pieces indoors during heavy rain and wipe rattan with a damp cloth.
14Two Tone Beige And Rust Set
A beige three seater with two rust accent chairs is safer than matching all pieces in a bold colour. You can change the chairs later without replacing the whole set, and the beige hides wear.
15Compact 2+1+1 For Small Flat
A 2+1+1 set with slim arms seats four in a 1 BHK hall. Slim track arms save several centimetres per piece without losing seats. Pick a light colour so the small room feels larger.
16Royal Blue Tufted Luxury Set
A royal blue velvet tufted set with carved gold frame suits a formal drawing room. Use only in a room large enough to frame it.
17Wooden Slat Back 3+1+1
A wooden slat-back set with loose cushions is easy to maintain and cooler than full upholstery in summer. Choose a hard-wearing polish for daily use and keep spare cushion covers for festivals.
18Ivory Sofa With Black Frame
An ivory sofa set on a black metal frame gives a crisp industrial look that suits modern flats. Light fabric needs washable covers, and the open frame makes floor cleaning easy.
19Floor Seating Baithak Set
A low baithak set with mattress seats and bolsters suits Indian family gatherings and festivals when many guests sit together. It works best on a raised wooden platform that keeps mattresses off a cold floor.
20Olive Leather 3+2 Set
An olive leather 3+2 set ages well and pairs with wood and brass accents. Leather suits homes without pets and is easy to wipe. Condition it twice a year to stop cracking.

In India, a sofa "set" usually means matching pieces sold together: a three seater with two singles (3+1+1), a three seater with a two seater (3+2), or larger combinations. Before choosing fabric or style, decide the layout that suits your hall and measure for it. The sizes below come from Wakefit's 2026 guide, and the gallery shows 20 sets in different woods, fabrics and colours.
Sofa set sizes
Wakefit's sofa guide (October 2026) gives these typical dimensions:
| Piece | Width | Depth | Height |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 seater | 75 to 90 cm | 85 to 90 cm | 80 to 90 cm |
| 2 seater | 130 to 150 cm | 85 to 90 cm | 80 to 90 cm |
| 3 seater | 175 to 200 cm | 85 to 90 cm | 80 to 90 cm |
Scandinavian styles are shallower, at 75 to 85 cm deep. Seat height is usually 42 to 46 cm (Scandinavian 38 to 42), and seat depth 65 to 80 cm, with 70 to 75 cm suiting average Indian proportions. Elders usually find a higher, firmer seat easier to rise from.
3+1+1 vs 3+2: which layout fits your hall?
- 3+1+1: seats five, with singles facing each other or angled toward the TV. Flexible, but the two singles need floor space on both sides of the coffee table.
- 3+2: seats five on two pieces, usually at a right angle. Good for corners and halls with a door on one side.
- 2+1+1: seats four and suits a 1 BHK hall.
If your seating needs a full corner, compare with an L shape sofa, which uses corner space better. For more single sofas and styles see our sofa design gallery.
Measuring the hall before you buy
- Draw the hall on paper. Mark doors, windows, the TV wall and switch boards.
- Leave a walkway. Wakefit suggests 90 cm between the sofa front and the coffee table or TV unit for a through walkway.
- Place the coffee table within reach. Castlery suggests 35 to 45 cm from the sofa and about two-thirds the sofa length. Treat this as reach distance, and the 90 cm as walkway where people pass.
- Leave space at the arms. Wakefit suggests 45 to 60 cm from the sofa arm to a wall.
- Allow for recliners. Wakefit says a recliner adds 30 to 40 cm of depth when reclined and needs 40 to 50 cm behind it.
- Check the TV distance. Wakefit suggests 2 to 2.5 m for a 43 to 55 inch TV. See our TV unit designs.
- Mark it with tape. Walk around it for a day before ordering.
Fabric, leather or wood?
Fabric sets are the most common: cotton and linen blends breathe in summer, while velvet feels rich but marks easily. Leather and leatherette are easy to wipe but can feel hot and crack in direct sun. Wooden frame sets with loose cushions are cooler and easier to clean. For wooden frames, teak heartwood is very durable and termite resistant (Wood Database); rubberwood is perishable unless pressure treated. Our wooden sofa design page covers carved and modern wood sets.
Matching a set to your home
Matching every piece in one bold colour can look heavy. A neutral three seater with two accent chairs is safer and easier to update. Large carved or tufted sets need a large room; low Scandinavian sets suit small flats. If guests stay over often, consider a sofa cum bed as the main piece. Care tips for Indian homes
Dust settles fast in Indian cities, so vacuum fabric sofas weekly and rotate cushions monthly. Choose removable, washable covers in light colours. Keep leather away from AC drafts and direct sun. Use coasters and a throw on the arms where hair oil and hands touch most. Before the monsoon, check under wooden frames for any sign of termites or borer and keep the set a few centimetres away from damp walls.
Frequently asked questions
What is a 3+1+1 sofa set?
It is a three seater sofa with two single seater sofas or armchairs, seating five people. It is the most common sofa set in Indian homes because the singles can face each other across a coffee table and be moved around. It needs more floor area than a 3+2 set.
Which is better, 3+1+1 or 3+2 sofa set?
A 3+2 set suits a corner or a hall with a door on one side, because both pieces sit at a right angle. A 3+1+1 set is more flexible and suits square halls where seating surrounds a coffee table. Both seat five. Measure your hall and walkways before deciding.
Sofa set ke liye kitni jagah chahiye?
Wakefit lists a three seater at 175 to 200 cm wide, a two seater at 130 to 150 cm and a single at 75 to 90 cm, all around 85 to 90 cm deep. Add a 90 cm walkway in front and 45 to 60 cm from the arms to walls.
How far should a coffee table be from the sofa?
Castlery suggests 35 to 45 cm between the sofa and coffee table, with the table about two-thirds of the sofa length. That is reach distance. Where people walk through, Wakefit suggests a clear 90 cm walkway between the sofa front and the coffee table or TV unit.
Which sofa set fabric is best for Indian weather?
Cotton and linen blends breathe well in summer and wash easily with removable covers. Velvet feels rich but marks and holds heat. Leather wipes clean but can crack in direct sun. Wooden frame sets with loose cushions stay coolest and are easiest to clean in dusty cities.
What is the standard seat height of a sofa set?
Wakefit lists a standard seat height of 42 to 46 cm, 42 to 48 cm for recliners and 38 to 42 cm for Scandinavian low sofas. Seat depth of 70 to 75 cm suits average Indian proportions. Elders usually prefer the higher and firmer end of the range.
